OL-FAKKELHOLDER. Vinter-OL i Oslo 1952. I forkromet stål, med risset angivelse av fakkelens start- og endeposisjon. Designet av arkitekt Geir Grung og produsert ved Adolf Thoresen blikk & metallverksted 1951, i forbindelse med De VI Olympiske Vinterleker. Med kun 95 produserte eksemplarer regnes denne som en av de sjeldneste olympiske faklene. Et historisk objekt fra den første fakkelstafetten i vinter-OLs historie. Proveniens: Magne Gunvald Bråthen (1913-1983), og deretter i arv i familien. Ved lekene i 1952 ble den olympiske ilden tent i Morgedal i Telemark og fraktet til Oslo på ski. Samtidskilder fra 1952 omtaler fakkelens ferd gjennom Norge og mottakelsen underveis. En avisartikkel beskriver ankomsten til Kongsberg og nevner blant fakkelbærerne Magne Bråthen, sammen med andre deltakere i stafetten. Geir Grung var en sentral arkitekt i norsk etterkrigstid, og sto samme år bak flere OL‑relaterte arbeider, blant annet Olympiabuen ved Nationaltheatret. En modell av denne fakkelholderen er representert i Nasjonalmuseets samling. Tilstand: Ikke produsentmerket og med reparasjon på fotplate. Vurdering: 300.000 kr. OLYMPIC TORCH HOLDER. Winter Olympics, Oslo 1952. In chrome-plated steel, engraved with the starting and ending points of the torch relay. Designed by architect Geir Grung in connection with the VI Olympic Winter Games. With only 95 examples produced, this is considered one of the rarest Olympic torches. A historic object from the first torch relay in the history of the Winter Olympic Games. Provenance: Magne Gunvald Bråthen (1913–1983), and subsequently by descent in the family. During the 1952 Games, the Olympic flame was lit in Morgedal, Telemark, and transported to Oslo by skiers. Contemporary sources from 1952 describe the torch’s journey through Norway and the reception along the route. A newspaper article documents the arrival in Kongsberg and mentions Magne Bråthen among the torchbearers, along with other participants in the relay. Geir Grung was a central figure in Norwegian post-war architecture, and in the same year designed several Olympic-related works, including the Olympic Arch at the National Theatre in Oslo. A model of this torch holder is represented in the collection of the National Museum. Condition: Unmarked by maker and with a repair to the base plate. Estimate: NOK 300,000
