WILHELM GUSTLOFF. "Wilhelm Gustloff" original photoalbum (13 x 10 x 2 cm) c. 1938, containing a dozen photos from in and around the ship with a printed key on the inside cover. The Wilhelm Gustloff was built as a cruise ship but was later commandeered by the German Navy for use during World War II. The ship was torpedoed by Soviet submarine S13 while transporting refugees in January of 1945, resulting in the worst naval disaster in history in which more than 9000 people lost their lives. The album itself is a little worn with the photos in superb condition.
