FRANC strip of 3 - one stamp bend to the backside of the letter, was never cancelled and have been cut lightly at the opening, it don't spoil this EXCELLENT entire letter, togehter with 1 Fr. EMPIRE FRANC. A VERY RARE franking, fresh colors. Send from Paris 15.DEC.1853 via Liverpool "PER STEAMER AFRICA DEC.17.53" to Mr. Elliot C. Cowdin New York 30.DEC.53. Sent from his wife Kate. Mr. Elliot (1819-1880) was a famous businessman and politician in the New York State Assembly in 1876, representing the 11th district. The letter is in a good condition, but have a little tear in top. Also a beautiful handwritten letter from his wife inside (a little loveletter !!!).
